Maria-Jesus has been Executive and Member of Boards of Directors , with wide experience in national and multinational companies and non-profit entities . Institutional Relations expert, and lawyer specialized in regulated industries such as telecommunications, food, and pharmaceutical industries. With over 25 years’ experience in multinational organizations , leading and managing teams of professionals located in various regions , such as South, Central and Eastern Europe, and South America. MJ’s been President of Cable & Wireless Spain , and before that, Director Public Policy and Institutional Relations – Southern and Eastern Europe, and Latin America in said company. Previously, she had been General Secretary of the Board of Directors in GTS (Spain , Italy, Portugal); Orange in Spain , Tetra Pak Spain and Portugal. And also Legal Manager SmithKline (Glaxo SmithKline).
Today, besides being Managing Partner and Founder of Women in Business (WoB), MJ is CEO of an Asset Management company.
She also cooperates with various Non-Profit organizations such as the Association of Corporate Counsel , in which MJ is Immediate-Past President Europe, BPW-Madrid – Vice President & Secretary General, and EPWN-Spain , where she was Vice President International Cooperation.
Marta has worked for over 25 years as a technology and company lawyer, and has been Director of Legal Services and member and Secretary of the Board of several multinational software companies (Meta4 and Softland Group). As responsible of the legal issues, she has been in charge of corporative projects like Stock Market placements, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations and markets etc. She’s also an expert in international negotiation and intelectual property. Important achievements were the legal management of investments in Spanish companies by American technology funds, IPO on Nasdaq Europe amounting to 57.9 million euros, M & A projects both in Europe and in Latin America, etc. Currently, besides being Managing Director and Founder of Women in Business (WoB) , Marta works with European companies to develop their business in Latin America , participates in an advisory business in Colombia , Feged & Cia, and also represents the Free Trade Zone of Bogotá in Spain.
She works actively for the professional development of women through their participation in various associations such as the European Professional Women’s Network, for which she organized the First European Meeting of business women in Madrid in February 2010; and currently is the President of the Madrid branch of Business Professional Women International.
She has participated as a speaker in various forums both in Europe and in USA. She has also been co-organizer of the First LatinAmerican Women Business and Leadership Forum in Bogotá in October 2012.
